NOAH Youth Organizers (N-YO)

NOAH Youth Organizers (N-YO) is a group of dedicated East Boston teens between the ages of 14 and 17 committed to positively impacting their community. Through our year-round program, we provide leadership development, environmental justice training, and hands-on experience in community organizing.

What We Do:

Community Organizing: We empower and work with our community members to address local issues such as climate change and social and health equity. Through our different programs and events, we create a more joyful environment in our community.

Summer programs

We support and participate in summer programs for the community, such as:

  • Kayak Program at Constitution Beach: This program provides access to our coastline and brings recreational activities each summer, allowing over a thousand participants to enjoy water experiences.
  • Soccer Program: A program designed for children and youth during the summer, focused on fostering teamwork and physical activity.
  • Tree Canopy Care: We care for young trees in our neighborhood for their first three years of life, ensuring a healthier environment.

Collaboration with Environmental Groups:

We work with various organizations to tackle climate change through initiatives such as:

  • Designing Sustainable Shorelines: In collaboration with UMass Boston.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Partnering with Northeastern University.

Community Beautification: We clean and maintain community gardens and public parks, including the 3.5-acre Urban Wild park on Chelsea Creek, and advocate for accessible waterfront parks in our area.

Who is N-YO?

N-YO is not just a group; we are a movement of young leaders who are passionate about environmental justice and community engagement. Together, we are shaping a sustainable future for East Boston.

Children's, Youth & Familly Programming

SUMMER PROGRAMS

Children's/Youth Soccer

Since 2006, NOAH has proudly sponsored a free bilingual soccer program for children ages 6-12 at American Legion Field in East Boston. This summer program operates under a "drop-in" system, meaning no advance registration is required. We maintain a roster of attendees and ensure parental consent forms are obtained for all players.

The program fosters community-building and healthy physical activity while preserving one of East Boston's limited green spaces. It provides an opportunity for many community members, particularly immigrants from South and Central America, to engage in soccer—a beloved communal sport.

We encourage team-building and promote active lifestyles for East Boston's youth in one of the area's few recreational spaces.

Kayak Program

Our Kayak Program at Constitution Beach provides access to the coastline and recreational activities each summer. This free program is open to everyone, with no prior kayaking experience required.

Each year, we welcome over one thousand participants to enjoy the water. We are excited to continue providing this opportunity, and we look forward to seeing you next summer!

Note: Special events and schedules will be announced on our social media and website. Stay tuned for updates!
