Empowering Growth through Education and Leadership

At NOAH, we believe that education is a foundation for wealth growth, family stability, and workplace development. In addition, creating leaders within our youngest communities is essential to giving East Boston a strong, independent voice of its own. Our programs are designed to uplift the entire community, helping individuals strengthen their financial futures, create stable home environments, and enhance their careers.

Advancing Opportunities Through ESOL

English Classes

Each year, more than 200 residents participate in our ESOL program, gaining language skills that empower them to excel in the workplace and contribute to their families' financial stability. These skills open doors to better job opportunities, helping individuals increase their earning potential and support a more secure and prosperous future for their families.

For more information, please contact Manlio Mendez at mmendez@noahcdc.org. Our next cycle begins in January 2025.

Path to Citizenship and Economic Security

NOAH’s 'Intro to Citizenship' course is more than just a guide to the citizenship process—it’s a gateway to financial and familial security. By helping community members gain citizenship, we equip them with the tools they need to access better job opportunities, stabilize their family’s future, and actively participate in the community and workplace.

Children’s, Youth & Familly Programming

Children’s, Youth & Family Programming

NOAH offers two engaging summer programs for youth: the Schoolyard Summer Program and Children’s/Youth Summer Soccer. Both programs provide children with fun, educational outdoor activities and address the community's need for bilingual recreational options. These programs are especially vital in East Boston, where limited green space and recreational opportunities mean local children often miss out on safe outdoor activities available to their peers in other areas of Boston.

In addition to our summer programs, NOAH hosts various free, bilingual family-friendly activities throughout the summer, including movie nights and kayaking! Check our social media and website for updates on schedules and special events.

Children’s/Youth Soccer

Since 2006, NOAH has proudly sponsored a free bilingual soccer program for children ages 6-12 at American Legion Field in East Boston. This summer program operates under a “drop-in” system, meaning no advance registration is required. We maintain a roster of attendees and ensure parental consent forms are obtained for all players.

The program fosters community-building and healthy physical activity while preserving one of East Boston’s limited green spaces. It provides an opportunity for many community members, particularly immigrants from South and Central America, to engage in soccer—a beloved communal sport.

We encourage team-building and promote active lifestyles for East Boston's youth in one of the area's few recreational spaces.

Schoolyard Summer Program

Running since 1995, this program offers a summer day 'camp' experience, operating five days a week for seven weeks.

Meals: All participants receive a free breakfast and lunch daily.

Focus: The program promotes healthy relationships and resilience against peer pressure in a multicultural, bilingual environment.

Activities Include:

  • Arts and crafts
  • Gardening
  • Educational games
  • Environmental activities
  • Sports
  • Guest visitors from museums and local emergency service
