NOAH is committed to helping low- and moderate-income senior and disabled Boston homeowners remain comfortably in their homes by providing affordable home safety repair services, including minor repairs, emergency repairs, and senior home rehabilitation. Unfortunately, seniors are often neglected and forgotten in present-day American society. Seniors make up 14.5% of all low-income peoples, while making up only 14.9% of the overall U.S. population; over 25 million Americans over 60 are economically insecure, living at or below 250% of the federal poverty level; and approximately 9.6 million Americans over 50 are characterized as having a severe housing cost burden. NOAH’s senior homeowner services program aims to assist those seniors experiencing an even greater burden due to their economic situation, by providing cost-free home repairs and/or improvements. There are no other non-profits that serve senior citizens with home repairs, safety issues, and handicapped accessibility needs in our communities; our SHS Program ensures that seniors remain integral members of our neighborhoods, both contributing to and benefiting from greater contact with the younger generations.
To qualify seniors must be over 62 years of age, live in Charlestown, East Boston, or the North End or West End of Boston, occupy/own a 1-4 family property, and have incomes below certain limits. NOAH fulfills over 300 service requests annually.
